What a joke.
In my case, they put the box behind the headlights switch, so I removed the side panel and I disconnected it myself. More e-waste. The soldered wiring will remain there forever, I'm certainly not paying £100.
While I had it, I wondered what was inside, so I opened it up. Marked as the Vodafone Automotive SCD50, here's the inside:
